Erciyes in Turkey obtains Safe Ski Resort certificate

The Erciyes ski resort in central Turkey has been certified by Bureau Veritas, a company specializing in testing, inspection and certification, for taking all precautionary measures against the spread of the coronavirus.

Located in the province of Kayseri, Erciyes is the first and the only ski center to date in the world to have obtained the certificate of Safe Ski Resort, a statement from the management of Erciyes Ski Resort said on Tuesday.

The ski resort will offer skiers or snowboarders a healthy and safe vacation this winter.

Hygiene, sanitary inspection and conformity assessment were carried out by Bureau Veritas Turkey, which inspects accommodation and catering facilities in accordance with criteria distinct from international standards.

The mayor of Kayseri, Memduh Buyukkilic, said Erciyes is a major ski center with 18 mechanical facilities of international standards, state-of-the-art technology and more than 100 kilometers (62 miles) of ski slopes.

Umut Balaban, General Manager and District Manager Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia at Bureau Veritas, said: “This document, which is a first in Turkey and in the world, shows that this facility is completely safe.
