Karaismailoğlu said: “Our Çanakkale Bridge from 1915 will almost seal the Dardanelles Strait as a project of the ‘best’ and become one of the landmarks of our country. This work is a unique monument which bears within it the memory of our holy martyrs; It will be a gift for our ancestors who wrote the epic.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu examined the Çanakkale bridge from 1915 and walked from Anatolia to Europe using the cat path on the bridge.

Karaismailoğlu, who gave information on the work done on the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, said that with the assembled deck blocks, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is now largely completed.

“All that was left was the assembly of the bridges near the towers. We can now say that the countdown has started for the “dream of centuries” ”Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows:

“With its 101 km long, it is part of the Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe highway project. It is 2 meters long with 23,000 770 meters of median span and 3 meters of side openings. The 563-meter median span symbolizes the 2nd anniversary of the founding of our Republic, and when completed, it will bear the title of the largest mid-span suspension bridge in the world. With the approach viaducts of 23 and 100 meters, the total length of the crossing reaches 365 meters. The 680-meter steel towers of our bridge will mark March 4, 608, when Çanakkale’s naval victory was won. Our bridge between two steel towers is one of the few suspension bridges designed as two bridges in the world. When completed, it will go down in history as the first bridge in the world to be designed and built as a double bridge over a median span of 318 meters. Considering the height of the tower of 18 meters and the architectural figure of the cannonball of 1915 meters, it will reach 2 meters above sea level and will be the suspension bridge with the tallest towers in the world. In short, our bridge 318 Çanakkale will literally seal the Dardanelles as the “best” project and become one of the monuments of our country.

Noting that the bridge deck with 2 x 3 traffic lanes was designed as two decks with a width of 45 meters and a height of 3.5 meters, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said: “The foundations of the tower of the suspension bridge rest freely on the improvement of the seabed at -45 meters on the Asian side and -37 meters on the European side. 1915 in Çanakkale; There are many production elements that are important in terms of construction technique, such as the manufacture of dry dock and wet dock caissons, the manufacture of plinths and tie rods, anchor blocks, assembly of towers, l main cable assembly, bridge assembly and superstructure work.

“THE STEEL WIRE WAS USED TO GO AROUND THE WORLD 4 TIMES”

Karaismailoğlu pointed out that 162,000 kilometers of steel wire were used on the bridge, which is enough to go around the world four times, and said that the bridge was designed with the speeds in mind. high winds in the area. Karaismailoğlu said: “The stability of the bridge against the most adverse wind effects that will occur during the period of operation and during construction has been tested and these tests have been successful,” noted Karaismailoğlu as the foundations of the tower of the bridge were reinforced with steel. piles against possible major earthquakes and the submerged box-type foundation positioned on the ground was chosen.

70 DRAIN BLOCK ASSEMBLY COMPLETED

Stressing that 2,332 billion euros have been spent on the cost of construction and 579 million TL for the expropriation works by the company in charge, Transport Minister Karaismailoğlu said:

“Dredging of the seabed was carried out in the area where the tower caissons are located. A total of 165 steel piles with a diameter of 203 m, 368 in the south tower and 2.5 in the north tower, were driven for soil improvement at the bottom of the sea in the area where the foundations of the tower caissons. The main cable productions have been completed and the assembly work of the main cable consisting of 304 wire bundles started on February 5, 2021, the assembly work, pre-compression and final compression, as well as the work of assembly of the suspension clamps and vertical cables the suspension ropes were completed. Deck hatches and blocks were made. 66 mega blocks and 21 single blocks were transferred from the facilities at Gölcük Çimtaş to the deck storage area in the Gelibolu Graving Dock area. Till today; Installation of a total of 38 deck pulleys, 32 in the central opening and 70 in the side openings, has been completed. The 680-meter-long Asian Approach Viaduct and the 365-meter-long European Approach Viaduct, which were constructed with the push-and-slide method, were completed.

HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION WORK ALSO CONTINUES

Karaismailoğlu pointed out that while the Çanakkale Bridge construction works in 1915 continue, the highway construction works continue and so far 2 reinforced concrete approach viaducts, 2 reinforced concrete viaducts, 6 hydraulic bridges, 5 underground bridges, 39 viaducts, 40 underpasses, 227 culverts and 4 He said the intersection is over.

Emphasizing that the works are proceeding rapidly in 1 bridge, 4 viaducts, 1 box culvert, 8 intersections, 4 highway service facilities and 2 maintenance operation centers, Karaismailoğlu said: As a result of our studies, we never tire of putting our project into operation. March 5, 100. Like roads and streams, it gives life to every place it passes. Each new road built, like rivers, brings to life the jobs, production, commerce, culture and art of the places they pass through.

Stating that they connect the regions of Marmara and the Aegean Sea, which are the backbone of the Turkish economy, with a comprehensive road network, Transport Minister Karaismaioğlu said they had opened the northern highway from Marmara, 400 km long, including the Istanbul-Izmir highway. and the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, to traffic.

TRANSITION TIME THROUGH CANAKKALE STRAIT WILL BE REDUCED TO 6 MINUTES

Stressing that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and the 101-kilometer-long Malkara-Çanakkale highway will be put into operation, the integration of the Marmara highway will be fully ensured, Karaismailoğlu made the following assessments:

“The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will cut the time for crossing the Dardanelles Strait, which takes 30 minutes by ferry, but often takes hours depending on wait time and weather conditions, to 6 minutes. When the project is completed, the annual time savings will reach 624 million lira and the fuel savings will reach 113 million lira. In short, we will save a total of 737 million lira each year. We can say that there will be no more vehicles stopping and starting again because of the long queues causing severe fuel waste and air pollution. In addition, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and the Malkara Çanakkale highway project will be an important alternative to Istanbul in the transportation of goods and passengers, especially in the Aegean Sea, western central Anatolia, the Adana-Konya axis and the western Mediterranean and Thrace-Europe. With the connection of the highway to the Istanbul-Izmir highway near Balıkesir, the distance between tourist centers such as Izmir, Aydın and Antalya with European countries will be shortened and lead to the development of the tourism sector. The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will allow the integration of ports, rail and air transport systems in the Marmara and Aegean regions with road transport projects. In short, due to the location of the bridge, our project will connect not only both sides of the Bosphorus, but also millions of people in the region and in geographic areas related to the region in every way.

THIS WORK WILL BE A GIFT TO OUR ECDAD WHO WRITE THE EPIC

“One of the most important elements of our vision for the future is to contribute to the competitiveness of our country and to improve the quality of life of the society; Karaismailoğlu said: “to create a safe, economical, comfortable, environmentally friendly, uninterrupted and sustainable transport system” and noted that in this context, they further clarified the image of Turkey that they wish to see in the future.

Transport Minister Karaismailoğlu said: “We have an ambitious process which is shaped by mobility, digitization and logistics dynamics focused on holistic development, and aims to integrate the world into our geography, and we are successfully managing this process. in all modes of transport. The Çanakkale Bridge of 1915 will bring serious benefits to the development of the region and of Turkey. Our people will win with the industry, commerce, agriculture and service sectors that our project will accelerate. 1915 The Çanakkale Bridge will inspire new technical breakthroughs both in our country and in the world. The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is far beyond a project that serves the purposes of transportation, trade and development. This work is a unique monument which bears within it the memory of our holy martyrs; It will be a gift for our ancestors who wrote an epic, ”he said.
