Guide to the New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning in Readington 2022

You don’t have to fly all the way to Cappadocia to catch beautiful hot air balloons taking over the sky. You can just jump into New Jersey at the end of July.

This year, the 39th annual New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning takes over Hunterdon County Solberg Airport in Readington, New Jersey from July 29-31. Along with colorful balloons in the most creative shapes, the festival will also feature huge component music, making it the largest summer balloon and music festival in North America.

In addition to balloons and great music, the event will have something for everyone, from families with children to young adults and even seniors. Amusement rides will entertain any brave guests and fireworks will be ready to light up the summer night sky. One night, the balloons will be lit to glow like giant lanterns instead.

There will be no shortage of food and drink, and festival-goers can expect to find many different vendors on the grounds serving delicious comfort food.

“We’re thrilled that people want to have fun and spend time outdoors with family and friends,” Festival executive producer Howard Freeman said in a press release. “We have something for people of all ages. We pride ourselves on all the fun things we have to offer and the value we deliver year after year.”

Twice a day, once in the early morning and once in the early evening, guests will have the chance to lift their chins to the sky and watch the balloons soar. The balloons will feature fun shapes, including some new ones, such as a tiger, rocket, flying saucer, Billy the Kid and other characters. Iconic and famous ball shapes will also make a return, and guests will be able to spot the New Jersey Lottery’s 135-foot-tall yellow sun-shaped ball (the festival’s signature ball), the Pepsi soccer ball, and a unicorn, among others.

Music chefs will have the chance to attend performances by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Todd Rundgren, Kansas, and Collective Soul, and purchasing admission will give visitors the option of access to seats on the lawn . For reserved seating, guests can purchase VIP entry.
